Tasting Notes

Do you want to take a trip with me to Southern Oregon? Because honestly I cannot stop thinking about it. The drive, the air, the whole vibe down there — it always feels like a little reset. And trust me, this trip is going to be fantastic. It is going to be filled with good wine, good food, and those views that you normally just daydream about while you are stuck at your desk. The funny part is you do not even need to pack a bag or book a ticket. This trip is coming to you in my monthly newsletter on Saturday morning. All I ask is that you have a cup or two of coffee ready so you can settle in while I tell you about my time at The Overlook, looking out over Cowhorn Vineyard. One of the things I really love about Southern Oregon is that it pulls me out of my comfort zone. I spend so much time with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sparkling, and then I get down there and it is Syrah, Grenache, Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne. I mean, when was the last time you sat down with a Marsanne or a Roussanne? Exactly. It has been a bit. And that is the beauty of it. Now, let me talk about the wine for a second. The 2023 Cowhorn Viognier. Oh my goodness. This was one of those wines where the first sip makes you stop mid-thought. Smooth right at the entry, then this beautiful lift id-palate with acidity and floral notes, and then the finish that just hangs out and reminds you it is still there. I was literally sitting there overlooking the vineyard with this wine in hand thinking, this is it. This is why I drive all the way down here. This is the moment you try to hang on to as long as possible. And here is the best part. I get to relive it with you. I am going to tell the whole story in the newsletter this Saturday. If you are already signed up, you are all set. If you are not, hit the link in my bio and join me. No suitcase required, just a little space in your morning for a story and a glass of imagination.
