Tasting Notes
In general, I am not the biggest Sauv Blanc fan. The classic grassy notes feel bitter and twangy to me, which is a characteristic I am not the biggest fan of. When I sat down one on one with Joe Dobbes last Fall, I was apprehensive about tasting his Sauv Blanc from his new project Iterum. I remember the very first sip being incredible and note-worthy.
I was also apprehensive tonight because we all know how well wines taste at the winery or sitting with the winemaker. The ambiance, the company continually sets the mood for an incredible tasting! My first sip tonight immediately brought me back to the sun shining through Joe’s living room window while having a fantastic conversation. This wine has an incredible tropical fruit nose that slides under the radar on entry and opens up to quite a pleasurable mid-palate, where you are greeted with that tropical fruit integrated with an ever-pleasant spice full of acidity. For the everlasting finish, the slightest bit of pleasant tannins says hi while bringing along the wonderful spice from the mid-palate.
If you got this far in the post, there is a chance I am interviewing Joe Dobbes for the podcast. What questions would you like me to ask?
