Tasting Notes

It’s National Pinot Noir Day and it just so happens I am quite the fan which means there is a tremendous amount of pressure to pick just the right bottle. I have so many delectable choices at my fingertips. Such a shame I couldn’t open 42 bottles tonight. Looking through the cellar, Dusky Goose was calling out to me tonight. I needed a solid Pinot after being on the phone from 8:30 this morning until after 3:00. For me, solid means I know beyond a shadow of a doubt I will enjoy the wine before popping the cork. Lynn Penner-Ash produces some stellar wine, and after chatting with Hans Van Dale for the podcast earlier this year, I can’t wait to see what magic he brings to the table. Dusky Goose was also a winery during a birthday weekend back in 2019 because of a recommendation from a follower. There are more intertwining stories, but IG has a character limit on these things…… The 2018 Rambouillet Vineyard Pinot Noir from Dusky Goose is the solid Pinot I knew it would be! On the nose, great dark fruit notes are perfect for tonight’s slight breeze on the back deck. On entry, those dark fruits gently slide into the mid-palate, greeting you with a voluptuous body full of dark fruit, spice, and everything nice. Every sip of this wine is an indulgence and shouldn’t be taken lightly. Appreciating the finish on this glass is like admiring the fact Summer is starting to slip through our fingers. We must soak up what is here before “Pumpkin Spice Season” takes over. 👇 👇 👇 👇 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 Would you like to get a Saturday morning email once a month to read with your coffee giving you insider tips on events, news, and an in-depth perspective on a winery?
