Tasting Notes

I am excited about a couple of things tonight, and the main topic is all about the stellar work Dave and Lois Cho from Cho Wines are doing. You want to keep reading because there are details for a giveaway. First, let’s start with a podcast interview that has almost been two years in the making. If you have not signed up for the newsletter, you need to visit the link in the Bio and sign up now to get all of the stories of how Cho Wines started in 2020 and their journey to where they are now with a newly planted vineyard, winery and tasting room in the works. If that isn’t enough, they are working with AAPI-owned Portland restaurants along with @etfillewines, @evening_land, @hundredsunswine, and @shibawichern to bring to you the first Oregon Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Food and Wine Festival on May 20 and 21 from 11 am – 5 pm at the Stoller Family Estate Experience Center. Find the Link in the Bio to purchase tickets! If all of that isn’t exciting enough, I am giving away a ticket to the event! So all you have to do is like this post and make a comment tagging another person who needs to know about this event. I will choose a winner on Monday! I guess we should talk about this 2015 Cho Wines Blanc de Noirs Laurel Vineyard Sparkling. As always, we have to look at what is in the glass, but as soon as I popped the cork, all of the classic Pinot Noir scents teased my sniffy sniff. In the glass, there is a golden hue filled with all those tiny bubbles you and I both get all giddy about. Even at eight years of age, a tremendous amount of acidity greets you on entry and mid-palate. Once you have taken your shoes off and become comfy on the couch, you realize more about this wine with a lovely mid-palate Pinot Noir punch. Considering the acidity, the Pinot Noir one-two jab, and add in the gorgeous tannin structure, there is the immaculately executed plan needed to enjoy these bubbles today, and who knows how many more days if you have the willpower to not finish the bottle on day one.
