Tasting Notes

Happy New Year!! Post 1 of 2 When I started the top ten list, it was impossible to choose only ten wines. Putting those in some sort of order saying one was better than the other, geez. Even if I were to use a point system, it would still be difficult. So now, here am I am with the top two wines of 2021, and I am supposed to choose a “winner.” No, thank you! The number two and number one spots are a tie. 2021 was a deep dive into Oregon Sparkling, and what a fascinating deep dive it was. So, it should come as no surprise my top two wines are Sparkling. Corollary and Lytle Barnett produce only Bubbles. Their focus and vision are to bring awareness to Oregon as a world-class Sparkling wine region. Oregon is already known for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay is catching up, and I guarantee Oregon will start getting recognition for killer Bubbles in the next 8-10 years. 🍷 Wine and : 2014 Lytle Barnett Brut Earlier this year, I bought my first bottle of Lytle Barnett from the Carlton Winemakers Studio. When I opened it, I was smitten. Opening the 2014 Brut this summer, I was in heaven! The bubble mouthfeel took me away to another place where the mid-palate was encompassed with a delightful tartness leaving an ever-present finish comparable only to springtime sunset on some faraway tropical island. . . 📰 Want to know more about Oregon Wine and Wineries sign up for my weekly newsletter.
