Tasting Notes
Spring is in the air, and opening Bubbles totally hit the spot tonight! I haven’t been the biggest Pinot Gris fan, but I have to say I am starting to appreciate it more and more. Imagine, if you will, it’s a Saturday in July. A friend of yours sent a text asking if you wanted to go out on their boat for the day. Without hesitation, your reply is yes with multiple exclamations points!!!! You notice the 2021 Shumaker Pinot Gris Blanc de Blanc chilling in the fridge as you start to pack up.
After being on the boat for a little while, you pop open the Pinot Gris Blanc de Blanc right before lunch, and wow, it hits the spot! The stone fruit on the mid-palate reminds you of the peach trees on the side of I-75 in Georgia. The acidity slices through homemade fried chicken, and just when you think it can’t get any better, you hear the words “way down yonder on the Chattahoochee” from Alan Jackson coming through the boat's speakers, reminding you of summers when you were a kid.
