Tasting Notes

The winter apocalypse is here. I really hope you have stocked up on bread, eggs, and of course wine! I might need to make a trip to ensure I have a few necessities, but rest assured I am pretty confident that I have enough wine to last me through this difficult time. Are you familiar with Flipturn Cellars and the incredible work done by Meg Rulli? I find her story absolutely fascinating. It all started with her appreciation for wine at the dinner table, which led her to pursue WSET 2 and 3 qualifications. This eventually led to her involvement in Harvest and ultimately the creation of her own brand, Flipturn Cellars. Her first vintage of Sryah sold out within 6 months! I have been following her journey for the past couple of years and I feel incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to taste her 2021 lineup. Join me over the next few days as we explore together! Let's talk about the 2021 Flipturn Cabrenet Sauvignon from the Columbia Valley in the Red Mountain AVA. When you think of a Cab, especially a young one like this, you would typically expect a bold and tannin-heavy wine. However, Meg has surprised us with a completely different approach, showcasing a wine that is elegant and where the tannins are beautifully integrated, allowing us to fully enjoy all the dark fruits it has to offer!
