Tasting Notes

The second Sparkling I have been waiting on since the Summer of 2021 from Arabilis (@arabiliswines) is the 2020 Extra Brut Columbia Gorge. I seriously need to educate myself more about the Columbia Gorge and the wines coming from this area. When Kenny asked me about my knowledge of the Columbia Gorge, I sadly admitted I didn't know much. I wanted to nerd out more on the area! The Columbia Gorge Sparkling spent 32 months in tirage and is a 67% Pinot Noir and 33% Chardonnay blend. I am always a sucker for a blend primarily made of Pinot Noir with Chardonnay smoothing out the rough edges. I still have a difficult time describing a Sparkling wine, but here is what I will say, I adore how the Pinot Noir immediately grabs your attention on entry and mid-palate. Still, the Chardonnay comes in at the precise moment for the mid-palate, softening the whole experience and leaving way for killer acidity on the finish. If you still need to sign up with Arabilis's newsletter on when their Sparkling will be released, I strongly encourage you to do so now. These bottles will go quickly, and you will have to wait another year for the next round.
