Tasting Notes

You know we put up with the rain so we can have an off-the-charts summer. Days like today make it difficult to see what lies ahead, but I can't wait for some serious sun. By the way, have you looked at the weather for next weekend? 80-degree temps!!! Are we going to have a Mother's Day like last year? Remember our discussion about Compris last night? I'm really optimistic about what lies ahead for them. They've made a great move by bringing Aaron Kendall from Beaux Freres on board. It's clear they're not just doing well, they're pushing the boundaries of excellence. I came across Paul Gregutt's review of the 2021 As One Pinot Noir, and it was spot on! I thought you might find it interesting, too. This reserve-level wine presumably saw more new barrels; hence the dark, toasty frame. The mixed clonal fruit is up to the challenge, hitting black cherry notes full on. There's a pleasing roasted note conjuring up thoughts of grilled meats, and the acids add a balsamic tang to the finish. All in all a great window on what lies ahead for Compris. 13.4%; $55 (Chehalem Mountains) 92/100 I couldn't agree more with Paul. I adored those dark fruits, and if memory serves me correctly, Dru mentioned there was some Clone 95 in here as well.
