There is something to be said about a smash burger. Getting 8 oz of ground beef as thin as possible, cook it for a couple of minutes at 375, layer in some cheddar, and surround it with a toasted bun is absolute bliss. It’s so sticking simple and good. Add in a small handful of BBQ potato chips, and it warrants a decent bike ride.
I only have a few bottles left of Gran Coeur from Alexana, but I couldn’t resist opening one to accompany the smash. It’s a blend of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 20% Petit Verdot, 15% Merlot and 15% Malbec. Every time I open the Gran Coeur, I am never disappointed. All sorts of black fruit, very little tannin, and oh so delicious!
