2019 Walter Scott Novo Chardonnay Review

The summer is ticking along quite nicely, and not too long ago, I had the pleasure of sitting across from Alban Debeaulieu, the winemaker at Abbott Claim (@abbottclaim), for the podcast. I’ve been a fan of Abbott Claim for the past four years but never had the chance to speak with Alban until now. I have to tell you, I learned so much. He is a treasure trove of knowledge and wisdom, and he even mentioned meeting Thomas Savre while in France. As for the wine, I brought the 2019 Walter Scott X Novo Chardonnay (@walterscottwines) for Alban as the blind wine. Adoring his Abbott Claim X Omni Chardonnay, I thought it would be fun to introduce a sibling. Here are some notes from Alban on this wine, tasted blind: “It’s really good. Eola Hills. Very nice Oregon Chardonnay. Could it be one of Thomas’s wines? Maybe a 2016 Bunker Hill from Lingua Franca, or maybe something earlier. I’m not quite sure. There’s also the possibility of it being from Evening Land. I don’t think it’s Walter Scott. I don’t think it’s Seth.
