Tasting Notes

The days leading up to the monthly newsletter are some of my favorites. I find myself pondering what to share, knowing there are so many topics to cover from the past month. While I have to stay focused, I do miss the weekly rambles! By the way, have you subscribed to the monthly newsletter yet? You're missing out on some great insights! Link is in the Bio. This month's edition features a tasting I did with Jay McDonald of EIEIO. It was an honor to finally sit down with Jay after hearing about his wines for so long. Although I've tasted his wines here and there, I never had the chance to really explore them. Here's a little preview, starting with the 2019 Saffron Fields Pinot Noir. If you zoom in on the picture, you'll see the Saffron Fields vineyard with green dots indicating the blocks these wines come from. Notice the dark red color in the glass, hinting at aromas of deep, luscious red fruits. On the mid-palate, the rich flavors envelop you, making those back-to-back meetings fade into the background. The lingering finish reveals a beautifully integrated tannin structure. I can only imagine what this wine will be like in 15+ years. Jay makes some stunning wines, and you don't have to wait for the newsletter on Saturday to make an appointment. I promise you won't be disappointed! 🍷
