Tasting Notes

Daylight Savings was yesterday, and I couldn’t be happier even though it has been raining raccoons and possums all day. Finally, spring is upon us, which means more time outside and everything being outside encompasses. I cannot wait! Tonight’s wine is way outside of Oregon, but not that far. I am thoroughly enjoying the 2019 Rodolphe Demougeot Savigny-Les-Beaune Pinot Noir. There is no distinction between an Oregon and a Burgundy Pinot in the glass. While swirling this, oh my goodness, there is a beautiful barnyard funk wafting, filling the surrounding proximity! There is nothing but a silky smooth entry with an outstanding balance of dark red fruit intertwined with bright red fruit following along the mid-palate with an incredible integrated tannin structure. If you are paying super close attention, the barnyard funk is lingering on the edges of the mid-palate for an insurmountable length of time. Once the finish has worn off, there is a slight detection of tannin, but again, you must pay close attention. Sitting here, I am trying to compare an Oregon producer that makes something close to this, and I am having a difficult time. I feel Oregon has its own unique flavor profile, and so does Burgundy. It’s a blast exploring and comparing the two regions! 👇 👇 👇 👇 🍷 🗓 🍷 🗓 🍷 🗓 🍷 🗓 🍷 🗓 Trying to keep up with the events happening in Wine Country can be a full-time job.
