Tasting Notes
Call it a combination of excitement of Spring Shipments and the sun being out today. I couldn’t help myself. I had to open a 2019 Rock Salt Chardonnay from Walter Scott. It is so difficult not to open at least one bottle of new wines coming into the cellar. I mean, a baseline needs to be created. Am I wrong on this?
When I open a bottle of Chardonnay, I have noticed it goes down way too easily and feels refreshing, especially with the sun being out. I held a little restraint this evening, but when this wine touches your lips, it’s game over. Upon entry, all the way to a finish, it reminds me of reaching a waterfall where the mist is ricocheting off the rock cliffs onto your face. It's unforgettable. Oregon Chardonnay is on par with the Oregon Pinot, and I hope the rest of the wine world doesn’t catch on. Of course, this is a selfish perspective because I want more for myself. From an Oregon Wine perspective, I want the whole freaking world to know how great our Chards are!
