Tasting Notes
Look at that. We made it through another week all in one piece. The F word has definitely reared its head more this week. I may have been on the back deck earlier today in long pants and a hoodie, determined to be outside soaking up as much sun as possible.
The other week I got an email from Elevee mentioning the purchase of 30 acres in the foothills of the Coast Range a little bit outside of Carlton. Reading stories such as these warms my heart through and through. Tom and France continue to push forward, making great wine, food, and connections. I adore everything they are doing and can’t wait to see what the future holds for them!
Tonight’s wine is a 2019 Madrona Hill from Elevee. It is a toast to Tom and France. I have always been a massive fan of the Madrona Hill Pinot, and tonight is no exception. On the nose, entry, mid-palate, and finish, this wine is all about being subtle. Pouring this wine for a friend, they will love it hands down, but I guarantee you the subtle nature of juice in the glass with go by the wayside. There is an undercurrent of dark red fruits intermingled with spice sensations giving way to a super long lingering finish. If that isn’t enough, the structure of this wine is firmly in place, showing many signs of easily aging for quite some time!
