Tasting Notes
Are you one who creates goals? I used to set goals, but now I pick a word for the year. I enjoy living with a theme for the year that isn’t about checking off boxes I may or may not accomplish. My one-word wine theme for the year is connection. The brothers, Sid and Mac, at Kings North (@kingsnorthwine) are the pinnacle for connection. You have to check them out if you haven’t already.
2019 Kings North Luminous Hills Pinot Noir
All of you know I am the biggest sucker for a great story. So when you bring together a story, unique humans, a tie-in with another vineyard designate, and a killer wine, I can’t help but go all in with Kings North and their Luminous Hills Pinot Noir.
Let’s leave the above paragraph out of the conversation for a few minutes and talk only about the wine. Everything you want in a solid Pinot Noir is here! In the glass, there is a lovely medium translucent red waiting for a big sniffy sniff where you are greeted with those deep dark red fruits. On the mid-palate, the reward of the nose pays off with those luscious dark fruits integrating with a barely noticeable tannin structure. The finish, oh my goodness, the finish takes you away to a time when the commercials playings during your afternoon Soap Operas would say, “Calgon, take me away!”
