Tasting Notes

Can we talk about Andy Lytle, the man behind Aubaine, for a few minutes? Andy is one of the few people I look up to in this world. His passion, drive, ambition, and pursuit of legacy are out of this world. Earlier this year, I had the honor to interview him for the podcast, and I was blown away. He set an incredible bar for Oregon Sparkling with Lytle Barnett. Isabelle Meunier is the winemaker for his Aubaine label. He cleared fields and remodeled the At the Joy house, which overlooks the Anahata Vineyard. He is creating an incredible foundation for a new project with the Windfall vineyard while being incredibly lovely and generous. Suppose you haven’t heard of Lytle Barnett, Aubaine, or Andy Lytle. In that case, I highly encourage you to take a minute to watch the Weinnotes interview on YouTube or listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or whatever podcast platform you use. Links are in the bio. The 2019 Joie Pinot Noir from Aubaine is so good I had to buy more! The structure of this wine is balanced from entry to finish. Nothing overwhelms you. Right off the bat, on entry, the sultriness of dark fruit slowly creeps in for a mid-palate integration of those dark fruits with very subtle tannins and acid. If I talk about the finish, I will be here all night. I can’t recommend this wine enough! Oh, and before I forget, Aubaine and Lytle Barnett are sponsoring The Four Top, another podcast hosted by Katherine Cole. So hop over to the @thefourtop account tonight and enter for a chance to win a $100 Lytle Barnett gift card. . . 📰 Want to know more about Oregon Wine and Wineries sign up for my weekly newsletter.
