Tasting Notes

More Freedom Hill Fun! As I mentioned yesterday, Freedom Hill has 92 acres under vine. A majority of the varietals are Pinot Noir, but there are 14 acres of Chardonnay, 6 acres of Pinot Blanc, and 1 lonely acre of Tempranillo. I don’t think I have seen a Freedom Hill Tempranillo out in the wild. If you have seen a bottle, please let me know. Some wineries that get fruit from Freedom Hill include St Innocent, Ken Wright, Lange, Patricia Green, Purple Hands, Walter Scott, Mark Ryan, Devona, Evesham, Kelly Fox, and Silvan Ridge. Last weekend, I was at New Seasons when I saw the 2019 Freedom Hill Patricia Green Pinot for $33. The cool 2019 vintage is a beautiful all-around vintage from everywhere I have tasted. I should have planned better and tasted the Walter Scott and Patricia Green side by side. Next time! In looking at the Patricia Green website, there are two other Freedom Hill Pinots. The Freedom Hill Pommard Clone is a wee bit more expensive at $48, and the Freedom Hill Perspicacious Pinot is way more expensive at $150. I want to try the Perspicacious!!! . . . . 📰 Want to know more about Oregon Wine and Wineries sign up for my weekly newsletter. Link in the Bio! 🍷
