Tasting Notes
Sharing wine with friends
Sitting down in a good restaurant for dinner has become a treat. Sitting down in a good restaurant with friends while having killer wines has been nonexistent. So when a small group of us got together for dinner at Tavern on Kruse last Friday, I was more excited than a 7-year-old boy in a toy store getting a new Transformer.
The previous evening I visited Zupan’s, and they had one bottle of Aubaine’s 2019 Anahata Vineyard sitting all alone on the shelf. There was zero hesitation in my reaction to grab the bottle immediately. Following Andy Lytle’s journey with Lytle Barnett and now Aubaine, with winemaker Isabelle Meunier, I knew this was going to be good with a shadow of a doubt.
Opening the bottle with Garlic Sage Marinated Prosciutto-wrapped Venison Loin, it was fabulous! I should have taken some notes on the wine, but I enjoyed the moment too much with friends. Aubaine is a new winery to keep an eye out for, and you can taste their wines at the Carlton Winemakers Studio.
