Tasting Notes

I always have a difficult time with this time of year. Being an early riser, and it being dark at 5:30 or “dark thirty” is tough. I’m not even going to dive into the fact that it’s also dark by the 8:00 hour. Despite the fact it’s in the mid-50s when I wake up, I still take myself to the back porch to start the day. Summer is still here for a solid month. 23 years ago, I was sweating my arse off in an apartment with no AC. Coming from TN, the thought of an apartment with no AC was incomprehensible! Let’s dive into the 2018 Bjornson Vineyard Pinot from Elevee. I’ve had this wine before, but it became more special after interviewing Mark and Pattie from Bjornson. Going deeper into the world of wine makes a wine more special. I mean, this wine was already special knowing Tom and France, but also knowing Mark and Pattie makes it even more special. In the glass, there is a perfect balance of elegance. The color isn’t super dark and neither is it super light. Like I said, it is a perfect balance for color. On the nose, there is so much clove, spice, and everything nice. On entry, this wine is an open door to possibilities of what the night holds. The mid-palate brings together the world of balance and possibilities, showing off a harmony where the world doesn’t hit you in the face, but if you pay close attention, the world is in perfect balance. Undertones of slight velvet comfort you after a busy, productive day. The finish, oh the finish, this is where all wines should shine. I get an incredible slight spice where you have to pay attention otherwise it goes by the wayside. Tom is a masterful winemaker, and if you don’t pay close attention you will miss what he presents in the glass. If you haven’t visited Elevee, you should make an appointment and explore the possibilities! 👇 👇 👇 👇 🍷 Would you like to get a Saturday morning email once a month?
