Tasting Notes

Isn’t there a saying that goes along something like when March comes in like a Lion, it goes out like a lamb? I sure hope this March proverb holds true this year. I am so ready for daylight savings in a little over a week and for the sun to wake me up at 5:00 in the morning. It’s time! My funky mood about the weather today doesn’t quite match the funk in tonight’s wine, but it is pretty darn close! For the 2018 Big Table Farm Funk Estate Vineyard Syrah, those deep dark red color fills the glass, taunting you to pick it up and give it a sniffy sniff, where you are greeted with all of the deep dark purple fruits you would expect from a Syrah. Unfortunately, I haven’t had any other wines from the Funk Estate Vineyard in The Rocks District in Milton-Freewater, OR. I want to explore this vineyard more because there is so much going on with the mid-palate, but the one characteristic that shines through is some good ‘ole barnyard funk carrying through for a super extended finish. 👇 👇 👇 👇 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 Would you like to get a Saturday morning email to read with your coffee giving you insider tips on events, news, and an in-depth perspective on a winery?
