Tasting Notes

My goal this year is to open at least one non-Oregon bottle of wine. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened this 2017 Pibarnon Bandon Rouge. I am falling head over heels for dark fruit, and my heart skipped a couple of beats with my first sip of 90% Mourvedre and 10% Grenache. Besides the dark fruits, the tannins were buried beautifully under a cloak of spice for a slow meandering finish. Bandol used to be one of the five noble wines of Europe, with the other four being Burgundy, Bordeaux, Brunello, and Barolo. The average age of these vines is 30 years, with an elevation up to 900 feet. I am remembering this wine for quite some time, and when I see this on a restaurant menu, I am all over it! . . . . . . 📰 Want to know more about Oregon Wine and Wineries sign up for my weekly newsletter.
