Tasting Notes

Tonight’s dinner was a burger my mouth has been watering over for the last few weeks. I finally got Tavern Burger from @tavernonkruse. The cooked mushrooms and onions made the car stink with yumminess all the way home. I was not disappointed one bit and still recovering from eating every last morsel. I also got the 2017 La Valentina Italian wine from the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC. I was highly skeptical as not be versed in too many Italian wines. On the label it read “red wine”. I assumed it was going to be a blend of some sort with cabernet. There was a medium nose to this glass with dark berry flavors and no trace of cab, which I was fully expecting. The palate was medium bodied with light plus tannins. I kept expecting some sort of cab appearance to show, but nope it decided to stay home and play the Dead to Me drinking game tonight. I did some research on the wine and it is made from 100% Montepulciano grapes which ripens late in the year and is primarily found in Southern Italy. On Vivino this bottle sells for $13.99 and is well worth it! I would drink it again for $14 at the drop of a hat.
