Tasting Notes
What does one do when you can’t make a 00 speakeasy event? Well, you create a one-person speakeasy event, aka working on the back deck with a pleasant breeze blowing while working on the Sparkling Report coming out very soon! Speaking of the report, it consists of 38 Oregon Sparkling bottles from 29 producers. I am pretty confident this will be the most exhaustive Oregon Sparkling list, with a release date coming next month.
Back to the 2017 00 Hyland Pinot, it is a 4-year-old Pinot, and wow, it’s so drinkable right now, but also has so much aging potential with its bright red color. I take pleasure in the Hyland because it’s not bright red fruit, nor is it dark red fruit. It finds a balance between the two, which I have found to be rare. I don’t remember how much oak this has, but you don’t get the spicy oak on the finish. Everything is balanced and integrated for a pleasurable one-person speakeasy Pinot on the back deck with a great breeze!
