Tasting Notes
A few podcasts back, I messed up by opening a Pinot for Thomas Savre. I meant to open a Chard, but I grabbed the wrong bottle. For this week's podcast, there was no way I would mess up again. If I poured anything but a Chard for Seth Morgen Long (a vintner dedicated exclusively to crafting exceptional Willamette Valley Chardonnays), I might as well hang up the podcast and call it quits. Luckily, I didn't mess up, and the podcast is still going strong!
Here's a fun fact: Seth used to craft his wines at Lingua Franca, a detail that Thomas shared during our discussion about the Blue Heron vineyard. These two winemakers have developed a unique bond, which I found fascinating. To celebrate their connection, I couldn't resist opening the 2017 Bunker Hill Chardonnay from Lingua Franca. It's been a while since I last tasted this wine, and it'll be a few more years before I do so again. Bunker Hill truly is a special vineyard.
My episode with Seth Morgen Long drops Thursday morning on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify. If you haven't subscribed, you will miss out on one memorable episode. We were sitting in the barrel room at Sequitur. It will be an interview you will remember. Subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts, and don't miss Thursday's episode!
