Tasting Notes
Here we are, the last blind Oregon Chardonnay I had with Andy Joly from @caperscafepdx. While researching for the podcast, I noticed Andy was an Ayoub fan (@moayoubwines). When I went digging the cellar, I thought for sure I had an Ayoub Chard, but I didn’t! The bottle I grabbed was a Blanc de Noir, which I have still yet to try.
When Andy hinted that the winemaker is also a chef, I was completely thrown off course. I forgot how much Mo enjoys food. I could finally guess this wine after Andy clarified this winemaker is located off Worden Hill Road after you take a couple of right-hand turns.
When Andy poured the 2016 Ayoub Chardonnay, I was not thinking 2016 at all. In the glass, this does not look like a 7-year-old wine. It is gorgeous to look at, smell, and savor. The first words out of my mouth on this was, “Wow, that is not your typical Chard!” This is a great bottle, and thank you, Mo for a fantastic wine!
