Tasting Notes
As the Oregon wine scene matures, it's becoming more common to uncork a bottle that's been aging gracefully for over a decade. Yet, encountering a vintage that's over 20 years old remains a rare delight, and sipping on a wine that's aged more than 30 years feels like unearthing a hidden treasure.
Every glass offers a glimpse into the past and hints at the future. Reflecting on 2014, it seems like another lifetime. The past decade has been an incredible journey—one I wouldn't change for the world. As I look ahead, I’m filled with curiosity about what the future holds, not just for me, but for my daughter as well.
Today, I revisited the 2014 Barrel Select from Vidon, now known as Compris. This wine has aged beautifully, evoking memories of that crisp January afternoon in 2021 when I first met Dru and marvelling at how much Compris has evolved in just three years. The anticipation of what Compris will achieve next is truly exhilarating!
A small footnote: While Compris is carving out its new identity, revisiting a Vidon bottle like this one reminds us of the enduring legacy and the exciting potential of these wines. I’m already looking forward to the day I can taste a 20-year-old Compris vintage!
