Tasting Notes
Pulling out the 2012 Brooks Pinot as the blind wine for Paul was such a nice little treat, but when Paul went back and pulled out a 2013 of his wine, I am pretty sure my jaw hit the floor. Paul's graciousness and kindness are something else.
When I entered the tasting house, Rick Rubin's "The Creative Act" book sat on the table. I don't know another IRL who has cracked open this book. There are so many great nuggets in that book, and sitting across the table from Paul in the interview, you can feel his positive energy fill the room. The energy we put into the world comes back to us. We are fortunate enough to see and feel this energy through his wines.
The 2013 deLancellotti Famiglia Pinot Noir was showing amazingly strong. As you know, the 2013 vintage was the year of significant rain. All of the dark fruits are firmly in place, yet elegant and beautiful. Everything you would expect in a Pinot is sitting there waiting for you in the glass. Also, check out that cork. It is 11 years old and pristine as all get out!
